Project Overview

Thanks to the support of the UNDP Green Agenda program, Atfield expanded its efforts to enhance vineyard practices in proximity to cherished natural reserves - including the picturesque Fruška Gora and other protected areas in Serbia.

The Lesspray initiative reflects Atfield's mission to blend innovation with conservation. By deploying cutting-edge algorithms and launching new pilot programs, the project ensures that vineyards in ecologically sensitive zones can continue to thrive while preserving the pristine natural environments of these protected regions.

Approach

The project leverages Atfield's existing Winessense disease prediction platform, applying its precision models to vineyards adjacent to protected natural areas. The system uses on-site measurements combined with proprietary mechanistic disease models to provide targeted, evidence-based recommendations that minimise unnecessary chemical applications.

This hyper-precise, data-driven approach is particularly critical in areas bordering protected ecosystems where chemical runoff could have outsized environmental consequences.
